What will you be doing?
- Managing a geographical territory of dealer partners with the view of supporting the wider dealer direct goal of achieving 1,500 proposing dealers per month.
- Selling First Response and building relationships with dealers (predominantly via phone with the addition of WhatsApp) to win business for FRF.
- Visiting your dealers in person once per quarter.
- Working closely with all other areas of the business. In particular:
- The Marketing team, who you will work alongside to prospect dealers.
- The Underwriting teams to feedback on our product.
- Commit to feeding back market intelligence into the business and ensuring we take appropriate action to ensure we remain relevant in our market.
- Endeavour to ensure our dealer partners observe the correct standards of market conduct and treat our mutual customers fairly.
- Deliver a high level of customer service to both our dealer partners and customers on outbound and inbound communications.
Josh's Journey

I joined First Response in 2021, working in the Sales Support team until 2023 when I made the move into Sales. Whilst working in Sales Support, I always had a keen interest in the dealerships we work with and helping them get deals over the line, whilst also building friendly working relationships.
Since transitioning into Sales, this is exactly what the job entails and that helped made my transition seamless. I spent around a year understanding the role prior to making the move but even without this I knew the basic principles of the job were to sell what First Response is good at, get commitment from dealers to send their business to us and build relationships. These are the main foundations needed to be successful in the job.
The support you are given from day one is excellent – No stone is left unturned! I spent time with the various teams within sales, such as Onboarding and Risk, Cancellations and Dealer Debt and Deal Making. Also, teams who play a key part in your day to day role and have a big impact on the dealerships – CET and Underwriting just to name a couple. This is intended to give you a better overall understanding of how each team will impact your dealers and pass on the knowledge to give them the best service you possibly can.
During my time in Sales, there have been plenty of highs and some lows. To improve your sales calls you will get feedback through call listening and side by sides. There will be times where you face rejection from dealerships. However speaking from experience, if you take feedback in your stride and don’t take rejection personally, the results will be so rewarding.
One of my favourite parts of the job is when I have had a really good call with a dealer, sold First Response’s USP’s and he sends you an application off the back of it. That’s when you know you have brought value to the dealer and made a positive impact to the business.
What skills are we looking for in you?
- Someone who is highly motivated and has a desire for results.
- An active listener and effective communicator via all means presented to you.
- Able to build strong business relationships with a variety of different personality types with a focus on quality service.
- Can identify and deal with any conflicts positively and objectively.
- Being up to date with market intelligence and utilising this knowledge to better improve service and product offering.
- The ability to sell First Response Finance with excellent knowledge of our product offering and service.
This Opportunity
The working hours for this role are:
- Monday – Friday: 09:00 - 17:30
- 1 in 4 Saturdays: 10:00 - 16:00
To apply for this position you must be located in Nottingham. There is an expectation that you will work in our Nottingham office a minimum of 2-3 days a week on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (depending on team) and this is likely to be more frequent during training.
